Class Management

Catherine Shenoy, Assistant Professor of Finance
Catherine Shenoy graduated from KU in 1979 with a degree in Accounting. She worked for the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Service Officer in Washington D.C. and Tunis, Tunisia before returning to Lawrence and KU. At KU she received her MBA in 1983 and her PhD in Finance in 1991. Since 1993 she has taught accounting, statistics and finance in the Business School. Her research areas include corporate governance, corporate financial policies, and applications of artificial intelligence to portfolio analysis. In 1996 she and Paul Koch received the Guy O. Mabry award for the best publication in the School of Business for their paper "The Firm's Leverage/Cash-Flow Relationship."

Jeffrey Morrison, Lecturer
Mr. Morrison brings over 10 years of experience helping high tech companies launch their businesses. Prior to joining CritiTech, Mr. Morrison served as the Executive Director of Operations and Client Development for the Bioscience & Technology Business Center at the University of Kansas. He was responsible for evaluating potential clients and worked closely with current clients, helping them develop all aspects of their business, forge their immediate and long-term strategies, and maximize their chances for success.

Morrison brings a breadth of experience to the CritiTech staff. He started his professional career with Commerce Bank & Trust in Kansas City, Missouri, and remained in the banking industry as the Vice President of Credit Administration for a $300 million community bank. Prior to joining CritiTech in 2012, Mr. Morrison was the manager for a small private equity firm for over 7 years, investing in early stage technology companies and commercial real estate. Morrison received both his M.B.A. and B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
Boone Bradley, Lecturer
Boone graduated from the University of Kanas in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and returned to KU to receive an MBA emphasizing Finance and Entrepreneurship in 2012. He has worked extensively within the Information Technology industy and has actively invested since 2002. Boone also loves cookies.

Allen Ford, Professor
Allen Ford joined the University of Kansas in 1976. He received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Arkansas. Ford's teaching and research duties focus mainly on taxation. In his 24 years of teaching at the University, Professor Ford has won several teaching awards and is the KPMG Peat Marwick Distinguished Professor of Accounting. Professor Ford assists with keeping in touch with students on campus. He also attends many of the classes to give his insight and expertise on the topic being discussed.

Jack Gaumnitz, Professor Emeritus
In 1991 as an investments professor at the University of Kansas, Gaumnitz, who has since retired, was instrumental in negotiating information between McCarthy and the University to formalize a structured applied money management class. By 1993 Gaumnitz's hard work had paid off and APM was in the timetables. Since 1993 Gaumnitz has spoken to the class several times about his areas of investment expertise.
Paul Koch, Professor
Paul Koch received a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from Wartburg College in 1977. In 1980 he received his Ph.D. in Economics from Michigan State University. His teaching career includes positions at Michigan State, Kansas State, the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and as a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Since 1988, Professor Koch has been teaching at the University of Kansas. His areas of research and teaching interests include derivatives, international finance, investments, market microstructure, and econometrics. Professor Koch has handled much of the administrative work that goes on between the class and KU. Professor Koch helps to promote the class and to enroll prospective students in APM. Professor Koch also participates in some of the classes and speaks on his areas of study.
